About the Academy

Better education, better cancer care

The Hal Gray Academy exists to make the best of oncology practice teachable — and to share it generously with the wider clinical community.

Who we are

The Hal Gray Academy is a dedicated oncology education academy working in partnership with Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. We bring together experienced clinicians, modern facilities and a broad clinical caseload to deliver learning that's practical, current and rooted in real practice.

Our particular strength is brachytherapy. The centre offers one of the widest ranges of interstitial and intraluminal technique in the UK — across breast, skin, soft tissue, gynaecological, prostate, rectal and oesophageal disease — and that breadth runs through everything we teach.

What we believe

The world of cancer care doesn't stand still. New evidence, new technology and new technique arrive constantly, and the gap between what's possible and what's practised is closed by good education. We're driven by a simple purpose: to deliver learning that makes a measurable difference to patients.

How we work

We design every activity around the learner — small cohorts, generous faculty access, and formats that fit around clinical life. Whether you join a single seminar or a year-long fellowship, you'll find teaching that respects your time and your intelligence.

Our focus areas

Brachytherapy · radiotherapy planning & dosimetry · radiobiology · multidisciplinary oncology · clinical research.

Who we teach

Clinical and medical oncologists, trainees, radiographers, physicists, specialist nurses, and visiting clinicians from around the world.

Our partner

Mount Vernon Cancer Centre — a regional cancer centre serving a population of around two million across the East and North of London and the Home Counties.

Our principles

What guides our teaching

Practical first

Everything we teach should be usable in clinic on Monday morning.

Evidence-led

We teach what the data supports, and we're honest about what it doesn't.

Generous

Knowledge is for sharing. We open our practice to the wider community.
